WWDC 2015: Thoughts from Day One
Day one of Apple’s WWDC came to a close and there were a couple of things that stood out to me. Tim Cook & Co. know how to put on a show and they did not disappoint. Apple Music looks great, Spotify should be shaking in their boots. iOS 9 comes out this fall with some awesome looking new features and the new Mac OS El Capitan (seriously) looks to be another big step for Apple’s Mac development.
But the big ticket items came the app information bombshell they dropped in their intro for watchOS.
The App Store has over 100 billion downloads! One. Hundred. Billion. That is insane. There’s no stopping the mobile app market, it continues to boom. If anything, this goes to show you that the smaller developers can produce and be just as successful as the major players in the industry. Even a small business can get involved. The average iPhone user/iOS account holder has 119 apps. Another incredible statistic and proves that adding folders to iOS was a great idea. 850 apps are downloaded every second. Which means there were over 2000 apps downloaded in the time it took to read that sentence.
Can’t wait to see what Apple has in store for us the next few days. Stay tuned here for updates as we’ll be keeping a close eye on WWDC 2015.
